Health
Nursing Staff:
Work to link families with a doctor
Review children’s health records
Do screenings: vision, hearing, blood lead, hemoglobin and blood pressure
Offer parents chances to get health and safety information
Promote health and safety practices in the program
Special Needs Staff:
Recruit children already diagnosed with special needs
Help identify children who may have developmental delays
Initiate and track referrals for children who need further evaluation
Work with school districts to ensure special education services are provided
Provide support and resources for parents of children with special needs
Classroom Consultants:
Visit classrooms to assist the staff in planning for children who may need additional support in social emotion development
Consult with parents and teachers concerned about a child’s behavior or mental health
Support families in coping with stressful life events that effect their parenting or their child
Consult to the program regarding curriculum and program practices that promote mental wellness
Oral Health Coordinator:
Assists families with their child’s dental needs
Follows up on initial dental exams and referrals
Provides Oral Health trainings for staff, parents and the community
Nutritionist:
Visits the classroom to ensure children are served nourishing meals and snacks which meet federal nutrition guidelines
Consults with parents of children with food allergies or other special dietary needs in order to plan appropriate substitutions
Visits the classrooms to weigh and measure the children to screen for growth patterns which may be of nutritional concern
Available to meet with parents who have questions or concerns related to their child’s eating
